IXX for Desso TarkettFor a period of 5 months Jolijn worked in-house as a freelance designer for Desso Business Carpets. This specialized company fully integrated the Cradle to Cradle philosophy in every layer of their business.

KARIGAR 2017#MyWings - KARIGAR collection is taken to the next level with 4 new colours inspired by the Birds of Paradise. Just like the wings of these colourful birds the handcrafted KARIGAR cape can transform into different styles for many moods. It takes 15 karigars (artisans) in remote villages in the Indian Himalayas to create each product by hand using high quality natural materials

IXX for FabricAge 2017ARTWORK
IXX designed a series of big-scale artworks for FabricAge - a community project using creativity to empower people and contribute to a society for all ages. In 2017 the maps of Maastricht neighborhoods were crafted in various experimental weaving techniques. IXX for Fashionclash 2016ARTWORK
In June 2016 IXX created a TEXTILE ARTWORK for Fashionclash from a pop-up-studio in CentreCeramique in Maastricht. For the project "Let's (ad)dress the people" IXX designed a big scale artwork featuring XL CRAFTS. The work was exhibited during Fashionclash Festival 2016 IXX artworks are made-to-measure the public space and designed to be co-created with the USERS of that public space. IXX for KARIGAR 2015DESIGN / PRODUCTION / SUPPLY
IXX' collaboration with Indian artisans since 2010 has resulted in KARIGAR - a slowfashion brand - established in 2015 together with Pashm. For KARIGAR (meaning 'artisan' in Hindi) IXX creates contemporary designs to translate the skills, craft and heritage of rural artisans into new products for international markets. IXX for Het Ketelhuis 2014ARTWORK
For 'Het Ketelhuis' in Eindhoven IXX has made a Textile Artwork made-to-measure the public space. Het Ketelhuis is a restaurant and event location at StrijpS, a design hotspot surrounded by the industrial buildings of the former Philips factories. Het Ketelhuis is a creative space, unpolished and a bit raw in its details. IXX meets PERU 2014DESIGN / CONSULTANCY
IXX collaborated with WorldGranny to design and produce hand-knitted products for one of WorldGranny's social projects to improve elderly people's lives. IXX meets AFRICA 2014ARTWORK
In Africa IXX collaborated with Design_Develop_Build to develop Textile Artworks for the interior of an experimentally built theater in Langa Township, CapeTown. The design and execution of the artworks is done ‘on the spot’ in co-creation with the local community. IXX’ big scale textile artworks are made-to-measure public spaces. ‘Cheap’ materials from transport/packaging/building industries are recycled and/or used in unconventional ways. IXX for Vij5 2013DESIGN / PRODUCTION
IXX was invited by Dutch designlabel Vij5 to do the product-development for TwoTowel, a new textile product for the Vij5 collection. Designer Anieke Branderhorst from Vij5 came up with the initial idea for this product and IXX assisted with colouring and specific knowledge on the technical textile aspects that was needed to translate the design-idea into a concrete product. With this translation we managed to find the right manufacturer that was willing to use his (industrial) looms in an unconventional way to produce this specific product. www.Vij5.nl |
IXX for Fashionclash 2013DESIGN
IXX initiated a collaboration between fashion- and textile designers to explore experimental handwork techniques in silhouettes where fashion and textiles complement each other. Together with Manny Soar IXX explored DesignbyCraft as an online platform to highlight FAIR Dutch designers, products and stories. IXX meets INDIA 2011DESIGN
The first INDIA collection is based on a design-concept that symbolizes IXX' motto "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts". All products (like us human beings) function as an individual but are also part of a bigger whole. In this collection the big PLAID is the base-design where the smaller products (CUSHIONS and SHAWLS) derive from. All measurements (patterns + product-sizes) are based on the Fibonacci-numbers. This universal range of numbers (0 -1 -1 -2 -3 -5 -8 -13 -21 -34 -55 -89 -...) was used in ancient India to measure underlying rhythm of poetry. Technology 2011DESIGN / PRODUCTION
IXX is interested in the esthetic application of technological novelties. For a textile manufacturer that is specialized in producing technological textiles for practical purposes (protective clothes for firemen, etc) IXX designed a collection of HOME textiles to be produced in the same factory, on the same machines and with the high-tech materials that this producer is familiar with. By approaching the technological textiles from an ESTHETIC (design) perspective IXX showed this producer a completely new market |
Digital Print 2010DESIGN / PRODUCTION
IXX set up a collaboration with Dutch graphical and textile designers to create patterns for printed textiles. By providing a design concept, IXX challenged several designers to develop their own signature for digitally printed fabrics with the aim of bringing their designs together in one PRINT collection for elegant silk dresses. All designers worked independently and gathered on a regular base to exchange ideas and improve their skills. Upcycling industrial waste 2009DESIGN / PRODUCTION
TrashPoetry is a collection of artworks and experimental textile-designs made out of waste material from the textile industry. TrashPoetry derives from a collaboration with a textile manufacturer to upcycle their Trash into Poetry. This project shows a sustainable perspective and new possibilities for (industrial) waste. Looking into the specific characteristics of the waste material of this printing company IXX developed new textiles made from trash. TrashPoetry 2008ARTWORKS
TrashPoetry consists of autonomous textile artworks for public spaces. TrashPoetry is a collection of artworks and experimental textiles made out of waste material from the textile industry. This project shows a sustainable perspective and new possibilities for (industrial) waste. Showing the industrial left-overs as ART gives them a completely new meaning and value - INDUSTRY meets ART.
